1 Export Your ChatGPT Data

First, you need to export your conversation data from ChatGPT:

  1. Go to ChatGPT Settings
  2. Navigate to Data Controls
  3. Click "Export Data"
  4. Wait for an email from OpenAI (usually arrives within a few hours)
  5. Click the download link in the email to receive your ZIP file
  6. Save the ZIP file - do not extract it!

Note: The export includes all your conversations, images, audio messages, and DALL-E generations. The ZIP file may take several hours to generate depending on your conversation history.

3 Import into Your BYOK App

Cherry Studio Knowledge Base Setup

1. Extract Your Markdown Files

Extract the ZIP file you just downloaded and locate the MarkdownFiles folder.

2. Add OpenAI Embeddings Model

  1. Open Cherry Studio
  2. Go to Settings ā†’ Models
  3. Add a new model with these settings:
    • Provider: OpenAI
    • Model Name: text-embedding-3-large
    • API Key: Your OpenAI API key
  4. Save the model configuration

3. Create Knowledge Base

  1. In Cherry Studio, navigate to Knowledge Base
  2. Click "Create New Knowledge Base"
  3. Give it a name (e.g., "My ChatGPT Conversations")
  4. Select MinerU as the document processor
  5. Select text-embedding-3-large as the embeddings model
  6. Import your markdown files from the MarkdownFiles folder
  7. Wait for processing to complete (this may take some time depending on the number of conversations)

4. Use Your Knowledge Base

Once processing is complete, you can:

  • Search through all your ChatGPT conversations
  • Ask questions about past conversations
  • Get AI-powered insights from your conversation history
  • Reference specific conversations in new chats
